You're Not Real
Prove them wrong
If you thought you were here today,
you’re wrong.
If you thought your life was original,
you’re wrong.
If they taught you that your life matters,
that your choices and thoughts are your own,
then you’re wrong.
-
If you’ve been taught that you are here today,
it’s what they want you to think.
If you were taught that you are unique,
it’s what they wanted you to feel.
If they taught you that life matters,
it’s because they believe it
but do not know it.
-
If you’ve been taught that your choices and thoughts belong to you,
and if you believe them,
then you just proved them wrong.
Laura Brehm - Awake and Dreaming
Before you go, here’s a question for you to ponder:
If you let other people tell you how to live your own life, then is your life really your own or is it their’s?

I have a friend who once said, to paraphrase, ‘If you make decisions to assimilate, or to do the opposite, you are still allowing someone else to decide.’ Like the RUSH lyric, “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” Individuality is determining what you want and need from your life, entirely devoid of any expectation other than your own, and ACTING on it. It’s a difficult place to reach, but once you’re there, you’re the freest a person gets in society. Love this piece!
I really like the piece and the reflection is very very good for thought. 💯
